The Topcon Roller Management System ( RMS ) is an intelligent compaction solution designed to optimize asphalt compaction through real-time monitoring and high-quality documentation. It uses GNSS technology with rugged Android tablets to track pass counts, stiffness, and temperature, enabling improved construction quality and efficiency.
The bright and robust Android Tablet CT8X2 is used for compaction. The 3D-MC software on the tablet provides real-time position and project design information as well pass count and stiffness information in real-time.
The Topcon GR-i3F is a high-precision integrated GNSS receiver designed for machine control, surveying, and construction applications. It supports multiple satellite constellations, including GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, and SBAS, to provide accurate, reliable positioning data
MC-X1 control unit is the heart of machine control. Through data processing from different sensors (positioning data, IMU data), the MC-X1 is capable of everything from simple slope control and 2D to fully automatic 3D control.
The UR-1 radio can communicate via UHF/915 SS with local base stations. With the 4G-modem SL-25, network corrections can be used.
An active Sitelink connection is required
for Intelligent Compaction.
The temperature sensor measures the surface temperature of the asphalt in front of and behind the roller.
The compaction sensor is used to continuously measure and evaluate the frequency spectrum
of the drum vibration.
Intelligent Compaction (IC) uses rollers with sensors and GNSS/LPS to monitor soil or asphalt compaction in real time, ensuring uniform results, fewer passes, and higher-quality data for better efficiency. Proper compaction creates strong foundations that reduce settlement and structural risks, extend road lifespan, and minimize cracks and water infiltration, leading to lower maintenance costs. Topcon’s Roller Management System (RMS) uses the MC-X1 controller with advanced GNSS/LPS options, integrating OEM sensors and additional asphalt/compaction sensors, with all data seamlessly managed through Sitelink3D.
